2026 Fields Medal

The 2026 Fields Medal was awarded to four mathematicians:

  • Yu Deng – China
  • John Pardon – USA
  • Jacob Tsimerman – Canada
  • Hong Wang – China

Hong Wang created history by becoming only the third woman in the history of the Fields Medal to receive the award.

The two previous women recipients were Maryam Mirzakhani (2014) and Maryna Viazovska (2022).

Indian astrophysicist Annapurni Subramaniam received the COSPAR Vikram Sarabhai Medal 2026.

She is the Director of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru. She also holds additional charge as Director of the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS).

The award was presented during the 46th COSPAR Scientific Assembly held in Florence, Italy.

The Rashtriya Gokul Mission itself was launched in December 2014.

His research areas include eco-hydrology, satellite remote sensing and land-atmosphere interactions.

He used SMAP data to study soil moisture and the Indian monsoon.
